The Payson Utah Temple is a planned temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to be constructed in Payson, Utah. The announcement of the planned temple was made on January 25, 2010, by President Thomas S. Monson. The temple will be the southernmost along Utah's Wasatch Front, and when completed will bring the number of temples in the state to 15.
The Church announced Sept 7, 2011 that the Payson Utah Temple groundbreaking will take place on 8 October 2011. "Elder Dallin H. Oaks will preside at the 9:00 a.m. meeting."[1] The temple lot size has been increased from 10 acres to 20 acres, and it will be a 96,000 square feet, a little smaller than the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple.
The temple will be located near the intersection of 930 West and 1550 South in Payson on currently undeveloped land. Additional details, such as the temple's planned size or anticipated date of construction, were not available at the time of the announcement.[2]
