Pavel Kogan (conductor)

Pavel Leonidovich Kogan (Коган, Павел Леонидович) (Moscow, 6 June 1952) is a Russian violinist and conductor who currently leads the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra.[1] Pavel Kogan is the son of two famous violinists Leonid Kogan and Elizabeth Gilels (sister of pianist Emil Gilels). After studying with Yuri Yankelevich at the Moscow Conservatory Pavel Kogan won 1st prize in the Sibelius Violin Competition in Helsinki at the age of 18.[2] In 2009 he was chairman of the jury of the famous International Russian Rotary Children Music Competition.
