Paul H. Anderson (born May 14, 1943)[1] is currently an Associate Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court, taking office on July 1, 1994. He previously served as Chief Judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals from 1992-1994.[2]

Before his appointment to the bench, Anderson was in private practice as a partner in the law firm of LeVander, Gillen & Miller Law Offices in South Saint Paul. He served as a special Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Division and Department of Public Safety, Office of the Minnesota Attorney General from 1970-1971. He also served as a VISTA (Volunteers In Service to America) attorney from 1968-1969.[2][3]

Anderson graduated from Macalester College in Saint Paul in 1965 with a B.A. cum laude, then went on to earn his J.D. in 1968 from the University of Minnesota Law School in Minneapolis.[2][3]

Anderson is the author of many important decisions, including the leading case on bail, State v. Brooks.[Opinion] He has been a leader on improving racial fairness in Minnesota's justice system.
