Early life

Muldoon was born in San Pedro, California, the son of Deanna, a homemaker, and William Patrick Muldoon II, a personal injury lawyer.[1] He is of Irish descent on his father's side and of Croatian descent on his mother's side.[2][3] He attended Loyola High School, a Jesuit school and graduated in 1991, from the University of Southern California, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and played Tight End on the USC Trojans football team.

Career

Muldoon was the first actor to play the role of Austin Reed on Days of our Lives, a role which he played from 1992 to 1995 and September 2011 to present. He had a role in the popular teen television show Saved by the Bell in 1991. His next big role was as the evil Richard Hart, on the prime time soap opera Melrose Place, from 1995 to 1996. He also played Edmund in the Patsy Rodenburg production of King Lear. He is perhaps most well known for his 1997 roles in Starship Troopers and Ice Spiders.

In 2009, he worked on the film K-11 with Kristen Stewart, Nikki Reed and Jason Mewes. K-11 is about a dormitory section of the Los Angeles jail used to hold gay inmates (also known as the K-11 section), as explained in this 2004 L.A. Times story. According to an interview with Stewart, the film is a mixture of drama and comedy. K-11 was directed by Jules Mann-Stewart, who is also Kristen's mother.

He is the lead singer for the rock band The Sleeping Masses. In 2009, they released their music video "The Woman Is The Way" with OceanFall Agency and begun working with agent Leon Mitchell in the UK for The Sleeping Masses. The song is the end title song from the movie Powder Blue starring Jessica Biel.

It was announced in July 2011 that Muldoon will be returning to the role of Austin Reed on Days of our Lives, marking his first time back to the show since 1995. Muldoon's scenes will air in September 2011.[4]
