Kalamassery
Kalamassery (Malayalam: കളമശ്ശേരി) is a suburban region of the city of Kochi and a Municipality in the District of Ernakulam of Kerala state, India. It is a concentrated region of industrialization with several factories manufacturing chemicals and fertilizers, as well as IT companies. In the vicinity of Kalamassery are the Thrikkakara temple, the Cochin University of Science and Technology and the Eloor industrial township. The Periyar river flows through Kalamassery.
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[1] Kalamassery had a population of 63,176. Sex ratio is 956 females per 1000 males. Kalamassery has an average literacy rate of 84%, which is well higher than the national average of 59.5%. Male literacy is 87%, and female literacy is 82%. In Kalamassery, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age. Although Muslims are the largest community, a sizable amount of the population follow Hinduism and Christianity.Now kalamassery municipal chairman is Sri.Jamal manakkadan.kalamssery is a large economic area. Many domestic and international companies are invested in kalamassery.Mainly, BHEL,Nest electronic city,KINFRA biotechnology park,cochi medical college,cyber city.etc..Especially india's largest shopping mall LULU situated under kalamassery municipal area.
