Party standings in the Canadian Senate
Members of the Canadian Senate can choose to sit as representatives of a political party. The current party standings in Canadian Senate are as follows:
- ^ The Progressive Conservative Party of Canada ceased to exist in 2003, but Senator Elaine McCoy was appointed as a Progressive Conservative in 2005. Senate rules state a party must hold 5 seats and be registered in the last election in order to retain status, as a result she effectively sits as an independent.
