Parasram Maderna

Parasram Maderna (born July 23, 1926) is a leader of Indian National Congress from Rajasthan, India. He belongs to Lakshman nagar Village in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan. His son Mahipal Maderna is also a politician.

Education

He did his basic education at his village and then at Jodhpur, thereafter proceeding to do MA & LLB from University of Lucknow.

Freedom fighter

On his return to Rajasthan from education, he joined and worked with Baldev Ram Mirdha through Marwar Kisan Sabha & then Rajasthan Kisan Sabha, which led agrarian movement resulting in abolition of Jagirs in erstwhile estates of Marwar and Mewar by passing the historic 'Tenancy Law' enabling cultivating farmers to be ‘owners’ of their own land.

With the merger of Kisan Sabha into Indian National Congress he started his public career in 1953 by getting elected to very basic of democratic level as Sarpanch of Village Chadi and then moving on to getting elected nine times as Member of Legislative Assembly Rajasthan.

In the course of his public and political life he has been a minister in Rajasthan Cabinet of General Administrative, Revenue, Panchayat Raj, Cooperative, Forest, Colonization, Rehabilitation, Flood, Famine, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Community Development, Local Bodies and Sheep & Wool, Energy, Irrigation Departments.
