As of the 2001 India census,[1] Pamur had a population of 15,178. 49% of the population was female, and 51% male. Pamur had an average literacy rate of 62%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy was 72%, and female literacy was 51%. 14% of the population was under 6 years of age.
Pamur has a developed education system, with more than 15 secondary schools, a number of degree colleges, and the Omega College Of Education[2] offering the B.Ed. Education is available in both the English and Telugu languages.
The current president of Pamur is Y. Anuradha, elected to serve from 2006 to 2011.
Pamur is located 100km from Ongole, 120km from Nellore, and 260km from Vijayawada. The nearest railway station is in the town of Singarayakonda, 70km away. However, most trains also stop at Ongole.
Pamur is well connected by road to the rest of Andhra Pradesh and to the cities of Chennai in Tamil Nadu and Bangalore in Karnataka.
Bus service is available to Nellore, Ongole, Kandukur, Udayagiri, Kavali, Markapur, Produtur, and cities like Kadapa, Hyderabad, Vishakapatnam, Vijayawada and Rajamundry.

Sri Satyanarayana Swami Temple is located in Pamur. Recently committee members Mr. Pobolu venkateswarlu and Darsi Kaleswararao constructed a marriage function hall in this temple.
Located in the drought zone, Pamur receives inadequate water from rainfall to support the local population. Local ground water in the area contains fluorine, and due to this contamination, consumption of the ground water causes fluorosis, a potentially debilitating disease affecting bones and joints. Residents must therefore buy bottled water, and many citizens are demanding water to be transported to Pamur from the reservoir of the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam.
