Pamban (Tamil: பாம்பன்) is a town in the Rameswaram taluk of Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu. It is located at the western edge of Pamban Island and is a popular fishing port. The town gives its name to the whole island. Pamban railway station is the first station on the island for pilgrims travelling to Rameswaram.
As per the 2001 census, Pamban had a population of 30,926 with 15,919 males and 15,007 females. The sex ratio was 943 and the literacy rate, 76.97.
