Palasa and Kasibugga (Telugu: పలాస – కాశిబుగ్గ) are twin towns. And Palasa is a Mandal in Srikakulam district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India.^[1]

It is located on the National Highway 5 between Srikakulam and Berhampur.

Geography

Palasa is located at 18.46N 84.25E.^[2] It has an average elevation of 38 meters (127 feet).

Features

• Palasa-Kasibugga is the center of cashew industries in the Srikakulam district. There are around 200 cashew processing industries around Palasa town, the highest amongst the five north east coastal districts (together contains only 36 units). These twin towns are the largest cashew producing towns of Andhra Pradesh and are among the largest processing centres in India. Cashew industry is providing direct and indirect employment to about 15,000 people in the surrounding areas.^[3]

• The Community Health Centre, Andhra Pradesh Vaidya Vidhana Parishad is located here. It has bed strength of 50 in-patients.^[4]

• The railway station is common for both the towns. Even though the station is named as "Palasa" it is located in Kasibugga. This station is one of the railway stations with highest revenue in Khurda division of East Coast Railway zone.

Palasa is second largest town in srikakulam district.palasa population is 70,000. Palasa has now become an assembly segment. Palasa has a well transport fecility from all big cities. Palasa has an average literacy rate of 69% with second place in srikakulam district.There are two post offices each in Palasa and Kasibugga

There are around six to seven film theatres in the town including a first class A/C theatre with dolby dts and other features.

Schools and Colleges

Palasa-Kasibugga has good educational infrastructure for a Tier - 4 city. St. Francis De'sales school is the best english medium school in the town. Other notable schools include Grace Convent School,padmavathi english medium school Little Angels and BET. There is a good Zilla Parishad High School and Rly Mixed High School as well, with a big ground.

There are two engineering colleges in the town and lot of other degree colleges, both government and private. These form the hub for studies for all the villages surrounding the town.sbsym.degree college and narayana dora college and prajna college and pratiba college and saisirisha college and shiridi sai college govt.college, prajna engineering college and sivarama krishna engineering college.

one of oldest degree college in kasibugg-palasa is SBSYM ARTS & SCIENCE degree college ,this college is giving so many good proud students for India.
