Palapag, Northern Samar
Palapag is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Northern Samar, Philippines. According to the 2007 census, it has a population of 31,398 people in 5,852 households. Palapag, Northern Samar now is a bustling town decorated with a full-touch to its culture and tradition seasonally and yearly respectively. Every year,. August 14 marks its vesper day and 15 for fiesta day.
History
Palapag was the hometown of Agustin Sumoroy, a Waray who led a rebellion against the Spaniards from 1649-1650. The main reason for the SumOroy Rebellion was the forcible conscription of workers from Ibabao region,(partly Northern Samar and Eastern Samar)Eastern Visayas to work in the shipyards of Cavite.
