The Pacific Coast Softball Conference (PCSC) is an NCAA Division I conference that only sponsors women's softball. The conference was founded in 2002 as a six-team league, composed of Loyola Marymount University, Portland State University, California State University, Sacramento, Saint Mary's College of California, the University of San Diego and Santa Clara University.[1] In 2008, the University of Northern Colorado, California State University, Bakersfield, Idaho State University, Seattle University, Utah Valley University, and Weber State University joined the conference, doubling the number of members.[1]

Ten conference members of the Pacific Coast Softball Conference are members of primary conferences. Five members (Portland State, Sacramento State, Northern Colorado, Idaho State and Weber State) are members of the Big Sky Conference.[2] The Big Sky plans to sponsor softball beginning in 2012-13, as additions to that conference will give it the required six members to qualify for an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Softball Championship.[3] Four members (Loyola Marymount, St Mary's (CA), Santa Clara and San Diego) are members of the West Coast Conference.[4] One member (Utah Valley) is a member of the Great West Conference.[5] Two members, Seattle and Cal State Bakersfield, do not have a primary athletics conference. Seattle will join the Western Athletic Conference for all sports, including softball, starting with the 2012–13 athletic season.[6]

In 2010, members were split into two divisions: Coastal and Mountain. Members of the Coastal division are Cal State Bakersfield, Loyola Marymount, Sacramento State, San Diego, Santa Clara and Saint Mary’s.[1] Members of the Mountain division are Idaho State, Northern Colorado, Portland State, Seattle, Utah Valley and Weber State.[1] The division champions face each in a best of three series to determine the conference champion. The conference champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Softball Tournament.

In 2007, the Loyola Marymount Lions advanced to the NCAA regional final, eventually losing to the Hawaii Rainbow Wahine.

The BYU Cougars of the WCC will move their softball program from the WAC after one season and join the PCSC in 2013 to replace the Big Sky schools and Seattle. [7]
