He was chased by many clubs in Sweden in his youth but decided to sign a youth contract with Elfsborg 2008. He participated in many national team camps as a young player, and was predicted a great career for his mature style.
Two years after signing with Elfsborg, at an age of 18 he earned a place in the A-team after playing in the U-21 team and the Swedish national youth teams. During his first year in the Elfsborg senior team he played 4 games and also 2 games in the Europa League qualifications. He played 30 minutes in the EL-play off against S.S.C. Napoli, the game ended with a 2-0 lost for IF Elfsborg after two goals from Edinson Cavani, his first goals for Napoli were scored in Borås Arena against Elfsborg.
He made his first team debut in Elfsborg's 2-2 draw away at IF Brommapojkarna on 26 September 2010, and scored his first goal against Syrianska FC in the home victory, 2-1, on 27 June 2011. Many supporters consider him to be the heir of the greatest player in Elfsborg and Sweden national football team; Anders Svensson, due the fact that he plays beside him in the offensive midfield position. Oscar often referred to Anders as a mentor, and Anders gave him a lot of playing tips. Also the great player Tobias Linderoth has taught Oscar, as, after his retirement he became a youth coach in Elfsborg. After the season 2010/11 Oscar was being scouted and chased by many big clubs in Europe, but Elfsborg ignored all bids, as they want him for a few more seasons before he leaves. [1]
