History

The company was formed from the combination of Neteller Plc, Netbanx Ltd and Optimal Payments Inc. Netbanx was founded in 1996, and both Optimal Payments and Neteller 1999.[1] The company has been publicly traded on the London Stock Exchange since its initial public offering (IPO) in 2004.[2] In November 2008 the company renamed itself to NEOVIA Financial PLC.[3]

In early 2011 the company acquired Optimal Payments and renamed itself to Optimal Payments PLC.[4]

Products and services

The company’s products are offered via the software as a service (SaaS) model. The Netbanx service processes credit and debit card-not-present and non-card payments for North American, European and Asia global retailers through their online stores, mail-order/telephone order and automated (IVR) phone channels.[5] The service offers both direct processing and acquiring merchant services/merchant accounts.

Neteller is an electronic money/e-wallet stored-value service that allows consumers to send and receive money. When a user opens an account with Neteller, all of the transactions are electronically made without any delay or fuss.[6]
