Oakridge Middle School is one of two middle schools in the Clover School District. The state-of-the-art facility opened to students in August 2009. After Larne Elementary School and Oakridge Middle opened in 2009, the school district eradicated the junior high concept and created the middle school concept. Consequently, fifth graders were sent to their home elementary schools, and Clover and Oakridge middle schools now house sixth through eighth graders. Before the opening of Oakridge, sixth graders attended Crowders Creek Middle School alongside fifth graders in a large complex on Charlotte Highway. The former Crowders Creek Elementary-Middle School Complex is now an elementary school. The principal is Will Largen. The assistant principals are Avery Goode and Lori Maczko.
In its inaugural year, Oakridge Middle brought home quite a few honors. The eighth grade girls' volleyball team won the 2009 York County Volleyball Tournament. The girls' softball team came in second in its conference with a 7-2 record, only losing to Clover and Rock Hill Dutchman Creek. Finally, the girls' track team won the York County Conference Championship.[1]
