Ohel (pronounced Oh-hel) is a large Jewish social service agency, primarily located in New York City, which provides counseling, crisis intervention, and other services to children and families who are going through or suffering from abuse, domestic violence, marital problems, and/or neglect.[1] As of 2008, Ohel employs over 1200 employees including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, case managers, and mental health workers. The agency consists of divisions used to support individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and other psychiatric and psychological difficulties. Ohel also maintains numerous residences for foster care children.
Ohel was ranked No. 1 in 2007 in New York State by the Office of Mental Health for care delivered in its Foster Care programs.
