Noshiro (能代市 Noshiro-shi ) is a city located in Akita, Japan.
The city is known within Japan for the basketball team of Noshiro Technical High School (能代工業高校 Noshiro Kōgyō Kōkō ). The city merged with the town of Futatsui on March 21, 2006 to become the new city of Noshiro. Noshiro was the site in 770 AD where Imperial Navies arrived and established Japan's first settlement in Oshu. (Emishi territory).
Odate-Noshiro Airport in nearby Kitaakita serves the city.
