About North Hall

North Hall has Gold-Level status. The school offers Honors, AP, and IB diploma programs and offers several career clusters. In 2008, North Hall scored a 99.3% on the Junior GHSGT, which marked the highest in the state. This IB Gold school holds many high test scores and averages.

In athletics, the school sends eight or more teams to the Class AAA state playoffs each year. The Trojans have clinched many region titles in sport and are the owners of the 2006 Class AAA Cross-Country State Championship. As of 2009, athletic fields and field houses have been completed for the competing sports, and there are plans for a new Fine Arts wing which will house band, drama and chorus. The school library has thousands of novels, stories, poems, reference books and dictionaries. Over 30 computers are at the students disposal for projects.

In 2001, a new coach, Bob Christmas, was hired. A Virginia state championship team coach, he brought along his own coaching staff and his own playbook. Not long after his arrival the Trojans began to run his mastered Wing T offense and running game. North Hall started the 2001 season 0-9 under Christmas, but the last game of the season was a shock as the Trojans pulled off an upset over then undefeated Madison County, 35-12. In the 2002 season they posted an (8-2) record and reached the state playoffs as a 3rd seed out of Region 7-AAA. In 2003 they continued their success by achieving a (9-1) record and a second straight playoff berth. During the next four seasons, the Trojans posted 4 winning records, made the state playoffs three times, winning three region championships and finishing three seasons ranked in the Top 10 as well as a Georgia Dome appearance. In 2008, after losing over half the starters from a (13-1) 2007 squad to graduation, North Hall rebuilt in 2008. After a slow (1-2) start, the school bounced back to a (7-3) regular season record and a trip to the Sweet 16 in the Class AAA playoffs. The Trojans are averaging 10 wins per season, which takes second place in Class AAA. Since Coach Christmas' arrival, the Trojans have broken every school football record and have nearly doubled the all-time winning season record. North Hall has also made six playoff appearances since Christmas has been at the helm. At the conclusion of the 2009 season, North Hall finished with a (9-3) record and was one of only four schools in Georgia to advance past the first round of the AAA state playoffs four years in a row, joining Carrollton High School, Cairo High School, and Carver High School after beating the Ringgold High School Tigers 39-21 to advance to the Sweet 16. After a quick 2010 & 11 seasons, a combined 9-11 record, the Trojans join the newly formed Region 7-AAA along with the likes of Buford in the new GHSA 6 Class layout.

Band

The North Hall Band program consists of a marching band, symphonic band, concert band, jazz band, winter guard, indoor drumline, and several smaller emsembles. The Marching Trojans compete at three competitions during the fall and are present at all North Hall Varsity football games performing popular tunes as well as providing halftime entertainment.

In addition to the Marching Band, North Hall has a symphonic band, which in previous years have been invited to perform at the 'National Adjudicators Invitational' in place of their regular GMEA District 9 Festival. The symphonic band has a 32 year streak of straight superiors and will look to continue their success under the direction of Mr. Kevin Carwile who, as of May 2010, was selected to lead the North Hall band program. The NHHS Jazz Band held a benefit concert in 2007 after an E-F4 tornado struck Enterprise High School in Alabama and demolished the band hall. At the end of the night, the NHBA President announced that nearly $5500 was raised for the Enterprise Big Blue Band and a check was hand delivered the next week.
