In 1996, Aris Software acquired Noetix and the NoetixViews technology. NoetixViews enables organizations to leverage their current business intelligence infrastructure and tools to deliver faster, easier access to operational data. In September 2000, Aris Software was spun off as a separate company, creating Noetix Corporation and extending the functionality of NoetixViews to the Noetix Solution, an integrated family of products for operational reporting.
In October 2009, Noetix acquired business intelligence analytics company, Jaros Technologies Corporation. The company specialized in packaged analytics for Oracle E-Business Suite. Leveraging technology obtained from the acquisition, Noetix introduced Noetix Analytics, an affordable, packaged analytics option for Oracle Applications customers that significantly reduces the manual effort required to execute a data warehouse strategy.
Today, with more than 1,400 customers worldwide, Noetix continues to experience dramatic growth and strong financial success.
Enterprise applications such as Oracle E-Business Suite are designed for efficient transactions, not for easy business reporting. Enterprise application databases are a forbidding area for the average business user. These high-powered databases manage complex, arcane data structures, which often frustrate the efforts of non-technical users when they need to create operational reports.
Business intelligence (BI) vendors have made attempts to facilitate user-driven reporting from operational applications, but not always successfully. Query and reporting tools from leading BI providers such as IBM/Cognos, SAP/Business Objects and Oracle provide generic metadata templates that attempt to jumpstart the mapping of technical metadata to business-oriented terminology. However, these vendors’ tools still require a significant amount of manual effort to map it all together. The follow-on consulting effort takes considerable time and financial investment.
To help jumpstart user-friendly reporting from line-of-business applications, the ideal solution would require that a meaningful business terminology-to-database mapping or “metadata layer” be built before any report development can begin. Also, the ideal solution would need to automatically build reports, queries, and analytics based on the actual configuration of BI-relevant metadata in the customer’s source ERP or CRM applications. A one-size-fits-all approach to application reporting doesn’t work because of custom business rules, specific user roles, security and unique organizational hierarchies in each organization’s application environment.
The key application-to-reporting challenge for any organization is to bridge the information gap between the source application’s database complexity and the user’s need for speed and simplicity.
Noetix has received a great deal of industry acclaim including recognition from the following influential groups and news organizations.
