Born in Benevento, Campania, Ciotola started his career at local club Monteruscello, near Monterusciello frazione, Pozzuoli. In mid-2003 he joined S.S.C. Napoli, from the region capital of the same name. He was immediately sold to Sassari Torres in co-ownership deal. In June Torres acquired all the registration rights. He then left for Giugliano and then Pisa. He followed the team promoted to Serie B as 2006–07 Serie C1 playoffs winner.
Pisa relegated at the end of season. In August 2008 he joined newly promoted Serie B team Avellino in another co-ownership deal. Despite the team relegated, Avellino also purchased the remain 50% registration rights. However the team soon bankrupted.
In July 2009 he joined Verona in 3-year contract.[1] He played 31 out of 34 games, but only half of them was one of the starting XI. In July 2010 he left for Taranto along with Julien Rantier.[2]
On 17 January 2011 he left for Juve Stabia.[3] He made his debut in 2010–11 Coppa Italia Lega Pro.[4]
At the end of season both Verona and Juve Stabia promoted to Serie B. In August he remained at Italian third division, for Como.[5][6] He made his debut on 11 September, the first round (the real first round rescheduled after the strike) of 2011–12 season.[7]
