Nick Sun

Nick Sun is an Australian stand-up comedian. He is of Nepalese extraction,[1] but chooses to eschew obvious cultural stereotyping in his act,[2] favouring a style that has been described as "unhinged",[3] "offensive"[4] "nihilistic" and "self-destructive." [5]

In 2004, Nick won Raw Comedy,[6] a national competition for new comic talent run by the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. That same year, he also went on to win the So You Think You're Funny competition grand final, held at the Gilded Balloon as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.[7]

Alongside his appearances at Australia's major comedy venues, Sun regularly appears at the Cracker Comedy Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival, and Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In 2006, he performed at the invitation-only Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, Canada.

Nick's 2006 Melbourne International Comedy Festival show "Blood on the Yolks in the Key of Owls" was awarded the Director's Choice award by festival director Susan Provan.[8]

In 2009 Nick Sun Won the Sly Comedy Comedy Comedy Comedy Competition which had 3 other comedians in and went for 2.5 hours. A fight broke out during Nick Sun's set as a racist audience member called him Asian. Nick screamed "I'm not Asian, I'm not Asian". It was then the fight broke out between the heckler and fellow comedian Alistair. Nick then went to the PA and played John Lennon's Imagine. Whilst the two fought on stage.
