| Ngcobo was originally founded by Sir Walter Stanford, English nobleman, govner, businessman in 1844,as a white settlement farming area. The name "Ngcobo" means lush-spring, reeds, longgrass or wet bush in most popular language the townsfolk speak, isiXhosa.
