New Zealand's Got Talent was a talent show that featured amateur singers, dancers, magicians, comedians and other performers of all ages competing for a top prize of $100,000 (NZD). Three judges appeared on the show each week to provide feedback for the contestants.
In March 2008, local New Zealand broadcaster Prime Television announced that it would launch a local version of the hit show, New Zealand's Got Talent.
It was announced that Andrew Mulligan (the host of The Crowd Goes Wild) and Jason Reeves (radio host of Classic Hits FM) would be hosting the show. Miriama Smith (actress and participant from Dancing with the Stars) was announced as one of the judges, and on 11 July, it was announced that Paul Ellis (who also judges NZ Idol) and Richard Driver (the host of Radio with Pictures) would be joining Smith on the judging panel. It has the top prize of NZ$100,000. The first episode went on air on 8 September 2008.
The show was watched by a small viewership and because of this Prime decided not to renew the series for another season.
The live semi finals started airing on 29 September with the results show on 30 September. The two finalists were Dancer, Chaz Cummings and Musical group TMC, with Chaz Cummings eventually becoming the winner of the first series of New Zealand's Got Talent.
