The National Institute of Business Management (also known as NIBM) is a Sri Lankan business school founded in 1968 under the responsibility of the Ministry of Industries and Scientific Affairs (Sri Lanka). It is a collaboration with the UNDP, with the ILO functioning as the executing agency. On 1 June 1976, the Institute was incorporated as the National Institute of Business Management. In May 2004 the responsibilities in the Sri Lankan government changed, and the NIBM now is accountable to the Ministry of Skills Development, Vocational and Technical Education (Sri Lanka).

Divisions

The Management Information Systems Division

The Productivity & Management Development Division conducts programmes in Business Management. Main two courses are the B.Sc. In Business Management (Special) Degree which is approved by the University Grants Commission (Sri Lanka) and the BSc. In Business Management Degree which is affiliated to the University College Dublin

The Management Information Systems Division

The Management Information Systems (MIS) Division handles Computer training, which consists basically of two Diploma programs, a Degree program and several Certificate level programs. The major Computer programs of the NIBM consists of a One-year Diploma in Computer System Design and a two-year program leading to a Higher Diploma in Computer Based Information Systems. A B.Sc. degree program was commenced in 1996 in collaboration with University College Dublin (UCD) at the National University of Ireland.
