The National Council of Maubere Resistance (Portuguese: Conselho Nacional da Resistência Maubere, or CNRM) was an umbrella organization of East Timorese individuals and organizations dedicated to resisting the Indonesian occupation of 1975–1999. It was started in 1979, shortly before Xanana Gusmão became the leader of FRETILIN.[1] In 1998 it became the National Council of Timorese Resistance (Portuguese: Conselho Nacional de Resistência Timorense), or CNRT.[2]
