Dr. Nagam Janardhana Reddy (born May 22, 1948) is an Indian politician.[1] He is the Deputy Leader in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and M.L.A. from Nagar Kurnool constituency. He was the Minister of Andhra Pradesh from 1995 to 2004.

Early Life

Nagam Janardhan Reddy was born in Nagar Kurnool town of Mahabubnagar to Nagam Venkata Reddy and Narayanamma. He completed his medical education, M.B.B.S. at Osmania Medical College. He held various positions of office in his college and organised a number of social activities.

Career

Nagam Janardhan Reddy practiced medicine before joining politics.

Political Career

He was first elected as an MLA, from Nagar Kurnool constituency in 1978. He was elected as M.L.A for 6 terms. He was a Politburo member of the Telugu Desam Party. He is unofficially considered as No 2 in TDP after the party president Chandra Babuu Naidu

He is currently suspended from the Telugu Desam Party.

Telangana cause

Nagam Janardhan Reddy, as part of the TDP stand has been strongly supporting separate statehood for Telangana ever since the TDP resolution in support of Telangana. He is also the convenor of the Telangana TDP forum. Nagam is also staunch loyalist of Chandrababu Naidu.

Suspension from TDP

He was suspended from the TDP on May 25th 2011. He worked for TDP for more than 30 years. He raised his voice for a separate Telangana state. All the political parties in the telangana region are fighting for the cause of telangana state with their party flags. However Nagam is keen on protesting for telanagana without TDP party flag. This is the main reason he was suspended.

Telangana Nagara Samiti

He started a new party Telangana Nagara Samiti in August, 2011.[2]

Personal life

Nagam Janardhan Reddy is married to Suguna and they have two sons and a daughter, N. Dinakar Reddy, Dr. N Shashidhar Reddy and Dr. Pallavi, a radiologist.
