Myrkinos
Myrkinos Ancient Greek: Μύρκινος was an ancient Greek[1] city located in Thrace, located in the region between the river Strymon and the river Nestos. It was located in the territory of the Edonians, a Thracian tribe. Myrkinos joined[2] Brasidas after he captured Amphipolis along with Oisyme and Galepsus. It was founded as a polis by colonists from Miletus at 497 BC.[3] The colonists were led by Histiaios[4] (already a Tyrant of Miletus) and Darius had allowed him to build a city in reward for his help. During the Byzantine empire it was known as (Ancient Greek: Δοξόμπος) or (Ancient Greek: Δοξόμπους).
