Astronium (syn. Myracrodruon M.Allemão) is a genus of flowering plants in the cashew family, Anacardiaceae.
In 1968, F.A. Barkley describes the genus Astronium as composed of 13 species.
More recently, Santin and Leitão-Filho (1991) elevated the status of Myracrodruon from subgenus to genus. Apparently, Santin also placed Astronium concinnum into a new genus; Hermogenodendron. Further, Santin (1991) added a new species to the genus Astronium; Astronium nelson-rosae. Pell et al. (2011) lists the genus as having seven or more species.
