The short documentary centers around 54 year old Bradley Sell, a Boston Reverend who had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer years before.[2][3] Initially given only two months to live, Sell went on to outlive such predictions by nearly seven years. The documentary features various interviews with the main subject throughout the last months of his life, as well as scenes of Sell planning out his own funeral, plotting his grave site, and comforting those who also live in Hospice care.
Originally titled 'Heaven is my Last Resort', the documentary was re-titled along with being re-edited before its release. While the original version of the film runs nearly 45 minutes in length, the final cut of 'My Dying Day' runs approximately 10 minutes.[4]
Filmmaker Courtney Fathom Sell is the son of Main Subject Bradley Sell, and was asked by his late Father to put together a film on his struggle with cancer in order to raise awareness.
The film went on to win 'Best Short Documentary' at the 2007 Evil City Film Festival, in New York City and has been screened across the country at various festivals and events. The Filmmaker has presented the documentary at various venues across the country including the Landmark Kendall Square Cinema in Boston, Massachusetts. [5]
A special edition DVD of 'My Dying Day' is slated for official release in 2009. [6]
