Muhlenbergia is a genus of grass in the Poaceae family. It is named in honour of the American amateur botanist Gotthilf Heinrich Ernst Muhlenberg. There are around 155[1] species. Many are known by the common name muhly. The greatest number are native to the southwestern United States and Mexico, but there are also native species in Central and South America and southeast Asia.[1] A few are native to Canada.
