Mono/Poly
Los Angeles based producer Charles Dickerson is an electronic musician known by the stage name Mono/Poly.[1] His music alias is taken from the 1980s Korg keyboard and symbolizes the artist's multifaceted audio productions.[1] He is often known for his experimental and multi-genre producing of astral soundscapes with glitch-based hip-hop.
Personal life
Born in Bakersfield, CA, Mono/Poly was interested in music composition as a child in the mid 90's. His father owned a small studio setup where he was able to get his hands on some of his first synthesizers. The Roland Juno keyboard was his initial interest. Curious to the production of electronic music, he began producing his earliest compositions using a freeware music sequencer called Tuareg.
Music career
In the fall of 2009, Mono/Poly released his 12" EP, The George Machine on Faces Records. In the following May 2010, he made his debut on Tasteful Licks Records with his first full-length solo album Paramatma. In 2011, he joined the record label Brainfeeder and released his most recent album Manifestations on April 5, 2011. Mono/Poly appears on various mixes and compilations including Flying Lotus release L.A. EP 2 X 3 from Warp Records and Planet Mu release Wild Angels-Mary Anne Hobbs.
