Mitratech Holdings, Inc. provides software, and related services, that corporations and government agencies use to control the cost of, and to manage, legal operations (legal matter management) and governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC) processes as well as claims and case management. The company’s customers include Aon,[1] Cisco,[2] Express Scripts,[3] GMAC,[4] The Home Depot,[5] Pfizer,[6] and Toyota.[7] The adoption of Mitratech’s TeamConnect platform for matter management earned The Home Depot’s Libby Troughton, Legal IT Manager, top honors for Most Innovative Use of Technology by In-House Counsel in 2006 from American Lawyer Media’s Law Technology News, the leading legal technology publication. The same publication awarded Pfizer similar recognition for its implementation of TeamConnect.

The company was founded in 1987 by Dr. Ladan Behnia, a computer scientist who holds a Ph.D. in computer science and artificial intelligence from the University of Paris. The company’s first software product was designed to help law firms with legal matter management. In the early 1990s, however, Mitratech began instead to leverage its technology to build collaborative solutions in legal matter management for corporations and that is the company’s primary emphasis today.

Mitratech was named to the Inc. (magazine) 5000 list of fastest-growing U.S. companies in both 2010[8] and 2009.[9]

In 2011, Mitratech was acquired by Vista Equity Partners.

Products

Mitratech’s core product is TeamConnect and is available as an application suite or a development framework.

TeamConnect Legal is a suite of integrated applications built using web-based standards designed to engender Collaborative Accountability in the enterprise by providing greater transparency and traceability. The applications, each of which is available as a stand-alone, include:

TeamConnect GRC provides both industry-specific governance, risk management and compliance (GRC) solutions as well as horizontal applications to manage FCPA compliance, anti-trust, ethics, policies & procedures, export controls, internal investigations, information security and privacy, data loss prevention (DLP), records retention, and HR-related issues. Functionality addresses the following four key areas:

TeamConnect Claims enables insurance providers to manage ongoing matters to quickly analyze losses, assess their value and move them to a prompt and fair resolution. TeamConnect Claims unites counsel, adjusters, experts, investigators and other claims partners, helping insurers reduce total loss costs and improve policyholder satisfaction.

TeamConnect Enterprise is an integrated platform development environment that utilizes a multi-tiered J2EE Web application architecture. The application tier runs in a standard Java application server. The scalable and extensible architecture provides a foundation for companies to design, build, deploy and maintain their own applications. Mitratech sponsors a program for the independent software vendor (ISVs) to assist them with APIs and other resources for building specialized applications for the TeamConnect platform and then offering them in the marketplace.

Licensing

Mitratech licenses TeamConnect as a perpetual on-premise with annual maintenance, a Software-as-a-Service, on-premise rental or via managed hosting.
