Mirel

Mirel is a biodegradable bioplastic being commercialized through a joint venture between Metabolix and Archer Daniels Midland Company called Telles.

Mirel is being marketed as an alternative to petroleum-based plastics that is both sustainable and eco-friendly. Market research suggests that consumer demand for bioplastics could reach as high as 50 billion pounds per year (10% of the global plastics market) by 2010.[1]
