Minico High School, also known as Minidoka County High School, is a public high school located in Minidoka County, Idaho, United States. As the only high school in the county, its jurisdiction includes all of Minidoka County as well as the rural Yale area in the panhandle of southeastern Blaine County and the very northeastern part of Lincoln County near Kamima.[3]
The name Minico derives from a contraction of "Minidoka County." It is operated by the Minidoka County Joint School District.[4]

Minico High School is located on State Highway 25 between the cities of Rupert and Paul, on 100 South, at an elevation of 4,148 feet (1,264 m) above sea level. Minico High School opened in 1955, consolidating four high schools: Rupert, Paul, Heyburn, and Acequia.

Minico offers a variety of clubs and student oriented programs including: Key Club, Leo Club, Student Body/Council Government, Business Club, Young Republicans, Young Democrats, French Club, Spanish Club, FCCLA, Speech Arts Club, Ski Club, Mountain Bike Club, and FFA. Minico also features a cheerleading squad and the Spartan Dance Force. The school's student newspaper is The Spartan Chronicle.[5]
Minico High School is classified as a 4A school (enrollment between 600 and 800) by the Idaho High School Activities Association. It currently competes in the Great Basin (West) Conference against Burley, Jerome, and Wood River High Schools, all located in the Magic Valley region of Idaho.[6] In 2009-10 Twin Falls High School and Canyon Ridge High School, both located in Twin Falls, joined the conference as well.[7]
The Spartan is Minico High School's mascot, and the school colors are red and gold.[6]
Minico has many varsity sports including boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, tennis, golf, cross country, bowling, wrestling, track and field, volleyball, football, baseball, and softball.
Minico Spartans teams have had recent success in several sports. Minico wrestlers won 4A state championships in several weight classes in 2006.[8]
The Spartan baseball team has recently been a power at the state level. Minico won the 4A state tournament in 2005[9] and was 4A runner-up in 2007, losing the final 10-9 to Columbia High School of Nampa.[10] The Spartan baseball team won the A-1 (now 5A) state title in 1982 over Lewiston,[11] and was the runner-up in 1981 to Borah.[12]
In the 2007 the Spartan football team went undefeated in the regular season (8-0) and won the Great Basin (West) conference. Minico defeated Rigby High School in a playoff to qualify for the 4A state tournament, but lost in the quarter finals to the eventual 4A state champion Blackfoot Broncos.[13][14]
