Michael ("Mike") Francis Troy (born October 3, 1940) is a retired butterfly swimmer from the United States, who broke the world record in the 200m butterfly five consecutive times before it was taken over by fellow American swimmer Carl Robie in 1961.
The peak of Troy's swimming career occurred between 1959 and 1960 while he was coached by James Counsilman at Indiana University.
After college he became a naval officer and attended BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEALs) training. He was decorated and was presented the Silver Star award for his distinguished and heroic service in Vietnam.[1]
