Meshoppen Township is a township in Wyoming County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 877 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 15.9 square miles (41.2 km²), of which, 15.5 square miles (40.2 km²) is land and 0.4 square miles (1.0 km², or 2.39%), water.
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 877 people, 335 households, and 240 families residing in the township. The population density was 56.5 people per square mile (21.8/km²). There were 455 housing units at an average density of 29.3/sq mi (11.3/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 98.97% White, 0.46% Asian, 0.23% from other races, and 0.34% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.34% of the population.
There were 335 households out of which 34.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.6% were married couples living together, 12.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.1% were non-families. 23.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.62 and the average family size was 3.06.
In the township the population was spread out with 28.1% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 29.8% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 11.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 96.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.4 males.
The median income for a household in the township was $35,833, and the median income for a family was $39,375. Males had a median income of $35,500 versus $16,563 for females. The per capita income for the township was $15,670. About 15.0% of families and 18.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 25.1% of those under age 18 and 22.0% of those age 65 or over.
