Matinée
Matinee or Matinée may refer to:
- A showing of a movie or theatrical performance in the afternoon. More generally, a musical, social or other public event held at a time other than in the evening and occasionally stretched to include the early A.M. hours, e.g., "midnight matinee". Sometimes further characterized or specialized, e.g., "bargain matinee", "kiddie matinee", "shoppers' matinee".
- By a mistaken understanding of the title of the PBS program Matinee at the Bijou, a practice used in many US movie theaters in the early to mid-20th century in which the showing of a single feature-length film was supplemented by the showing of several much shorter films such as a comedy, a cartoon, a newsreel, a travelogue, an episode of a serial, etc., as well as the usual previews of coming attractions. In fact, this practice was not specific to daytime performances and the word "matinee" was not understood to promise such a presentation.
- "The Dark of the Matinée", a single by Franz Ferdinand also called simply "Matinée"
- Matinee, a software tool involved in controlling characters in machinima-based game production
- a tool for keyframing properties of actors within a scene over time, typically used for cutscenes made with an in-game camera (as opposed to separately produced material).
- Matinée (album), by Jack Peñate
- Matinee (film), a 1993 film by Joe Dante Jr.
