Matena is a village in the Ig municipality in central Slovenia, just south of the capital Ljubljana. The entire municipality is part of the traditional region of Inner Carniola and is now included in the Central Slovenia statistical region.[2]
The local church is dedicated to Saints Hermagoras and Fortunatus and belongs to the Ig parish. It is a Gothic building that was restyled in the Baroque in the late 17th century.[3]
