Marshall Plumlee (born July 14, 1992) is an American college basketball player who currently plays for Duke University.[1] He was one of the top rated basketball recruits in the class of 2011, and is the younger brother of Duke teammates Miles and Mason Plumlee.

High school career

Marshall Plumlee played all four years of his high school basketball career at Christ School in Arden, North Carolina, and was the only Plumlee brother to win four state championships during his time there. While Marshall played for the Greenies they had a record of 139 wins, and merely 11 loses.

Marshall Plumlee decided to follow in his brothers footsteps and committed to play basketball at Duke University on July 11, 2010.[11] He chose Duke over Florida, Michigan, Indiana, and Notre Dame.[12]

Marshall was ranked highly by every major recruiting website, ESPN ranked him as the #36 player in the country,[13] while Rivals.com ranked him as the #79 player in the country,[12] and Scout.com ranked him as the #68 player in the country.[14]

Marshall was a part of a five player recruiting class for Duke in 2011, which also included Austin Rivers, Alex Murphy, Quinn Cook and Michael Gbinije. Duke's 2011 class is the second best recruiting class in the entire country according to ESPNU.[15]

Family

Marshall grew up with brothers Miles and Mason, and they will reunite during the 2011-2012 basketball season at Duke University, they also have a sister Madeleine. They are only the 2nd trio of brothers to play at on the same college basketball team, at the same time.

His parents are Perky (a former Tennessee Tech basketball player) and Leslie Plumlee (a former Purdue women's basketball player who set the school single-game rebound record with 25).[16][17][18] The two met at a basketball camp during the summer of 1979.[19] His grandfather Albert "Bud" Schultz played basketball at Michigan Tech (1944), his uncle William Schultz played basketball at Wisconsin-Eau Claire (1971–72), and his uncle Chad Schultz played basketball at Wisconsin-Oshkosh (1983–86).[20]
