Marpha is a village development committee in Mustang District in the Dhawalagiri Zone of northern Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 1630 people living in 434 individual households.[1]
The name itself reflects the "mar" meaning hard working and "pha" meaning people. Tourism and mule rearing are the means of survival of the people of this place.
The village marpha is the delightful apple capital in the nation, the apple grown here is considered to be the finest quality not only in the local level but also in the international level as well. Actual living began in the upper forest area like Dhamang, Bhong, Seche, Nirasang of the present dwelling. These places are and were considered to be the most fertile for different crops like buckwheat, corn, beans,peas,wheat as well as all sort of vegetables. Marpha has been and is developing in the very fast pacein each and every aspects. Currently there are two high schools, two big monasteries, two conference halls etc.
