Mark Lawrence (politician)

Mark W. Lawrence (born 1958) is a Maine lawyer and former politician. A Democrat, Lawrence served in the Maine State Legislature from 1988-2000. He served as Senate President from 1997-2000.[1] He challenged Republican incumbent Olympia Snowe in the 2000 U.S. Senate election and lost. He lost in the Democratic primary for the open seat in the 1st congressional district in 2008. He served from 2003-2010 as the York County District Attorney before deciding to not seek re-election in 2010 election. He retired from public office to gain more control over his schedule.[2]
