Mari State Technical University (Russian: Мари́йский госуда́рственный техни́ческий университе́т, Mariyskiy gosudárstvennyy tehnicheskiy universitét), previously known as MarSTU (Russian: МарГТУ, MarGTU), is first technical, and one of the first institution of higher education of the republic of Mari El, the largest educational and scientific center of the republic.

- 1932-1968 — Povolzhskiy Forestry Engineering Institute.
- 1968-1982 — Mari Polytechnic Institute named after M. Gorky.
- 1982-1995 — Mari Awarded with the Order of People’s Friendship Polytechnic Institute named after M. Gorky.
