Marcus Vinicius Vieira de Souza (born May 31, 1984 in Rio de Janeiro), better known as Marcus Vinicius, is a Brazilian professional basketball player.
In 2004-05 season he played professionally in Italy for the Legadue Basket, the second division, team Premiata Montegranaro. Souza played professionally for Sao Carlos at the time of his selection in the draft.
A 6'8", 225 lb (102 kg) forward, he was a second round NBA draft choice of the New Orleans Hornets in the 2006 NBA Draft, chosen 43rd overall. He played a total of 26 games for the Hornets, scoring 50 points.[1] He spent part of the 2006-07 NBA season with the NBA Development League's Tulsa 66ers, for whom he played 13 games.[2] In 2007, he won a gold medal at the 2007 Pan American Games. In 2008 he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, only to be waived 2 days later.[3]
Vinicius currently plays for Esporte Clube Pinheiros in Brazil.[4]
