Marcano

Marcano family name originated in Spain. It was a military family that came to the New World with Christopher Columbus. The Family later grew and spread throughout the Caribbean and South America, where the surname became rooted in the countries of Puerto Rico, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and Cuba.

The Marcano Brothers

Marcano is the last name of four brothers that fought in the La Guerra de los Diez Años (aka Ten Years' War; 1868–1878). They are originally from Bani, Peravia, Dominican Republic, and settled in Manzanillo, Cuba. They are the children of Felix Marcano-Begazo y Guerrero (an attorney and prosecutor in the Supreme Court of Santo Domingo) and Maria de la O Alvarez y Soto-Ladron de Guevara.

There is a street in Bayamo, Cuba named Calle Hermanos Marcano.
