Majšperk is a settlement and a municipality in northeastern Slovenia. Traditionally the area was part of the Lower Styria region. The municipality is now included in the Drava statistical region.[2] It was first mentioned in written documents dating to 1261 in relation to the 13th-century Majšperk Castle, from which the settlement gets its name. The castle fell into disrepair in the late 19th century and today only ruins remain.[3]
The parish church in the settlement is dedicated to Saint Nicholas and belongs to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Maribor. It dates to the 13th century, but the current church was built in 1639.[4]
