On 24 March 2011, One of the X'Trapolis 955M trains derailed because of a brake failure. The train went approximately three metres past the end of the platform and smashed into a fence, no reports of injury were recorded. Earlier that day, another train lost power and was stuck on the middle of the bridge above Burgundy Street, Heidelberg. Delays were up to 30 minutes for people going the Eltham way, and 40 minutes going the Flinders Street way.
