MBTA bus routes in North Shore, Massachusetts

The MBTA operates several local and express bus routes in the North Shore cities and towns of Massachusetts. Some routes are purely local service; others include express service to Haymarket via Route 1A. All bus routes connect with rail transport, including Malden Station (Orange Line and commuter rail), Haymarket (Orange Line/Green Line), Wonderland (Blue Line), Salem (commuter rail), and Lynn (commuter rail). All North Shore bus routes are numbered between 400 and 499 (although some other MBTA buses, which do not go to the North Shore, also have numbers in that range).

Marblehead - Downtown Crossing via Logan: diverts from the 441 to service Logan Airport, World Trade Center and South Station via the Ted Williams Tunnel. Weekday service only; the 441 should be used nights and weekends.

Salem Depot -- Haymarket or Wonderland via Central Sq., Lynn: this is a very busy route that serves downtowns in Salem and Lynn, and points south to Boston. Connects to the commuter rail at Salem and Lynn, and includes service to Salem State University and West Lynn / General Electric. Weekend trips (455W)terminate at Wonderland station.

Salem Depot - Central Square: local route that serves downtown Salem, Salem Hospital, Highland Ave., and the Central Square area of Lynn. Commuter rail connections are at Salem and Lynn. Weekday service only.

Salem Depot - Downtown Crossing via Logan Airport & Central Square: this route diverts from the 455 to serve Logan Airport, South Boston & Downtown Crossing, via the Ted Williams Tunnel. Weekday service only; nights and weekends use the 455.

Salem Depot - Danvers Square via Peabody & Danvers: this route replaces the former 458 Danvers route and the old 718 private bus route and services both the Northshore Shopping Center complex and Liberty Tree Mall. It is combined with route 451. Commuter rail connection at Salem. Weekday and Saturday service; no Sunday service.

Salem Depot - Danvers Sq. via North St., Salem: limited rush-hour service directly to/from Danvers that runs to/from Haymarket via route 450.
