Mörigen is a municipality in the Biel/Bienne administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Mörigen is first mentioned in 1196 as Moringen.[3]
Mörigen has an area of 2.2 km2 (0.85 sq mi). Of this area, 60.2% is used for agricultural purposes, while 17.6% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 19.9% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (2.3%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains).[4]
It is located on the right shore of Lake Biel.
Mörigen has a population (as of 31 December 2010) of 877.[1] As of 2007[update], 4.0% of the population was made up of foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has grown at a rate of 11.8%. Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks German (92.6%), with French being second most common ( 6.1%) and Swedish being third ( 0.6%).
In the 2007 election the most popular party was the SVP which received 40.9% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the FDP (32.5%), the SPS (10.8%) and the Green Party (7%).
The age distribution of the population (as of 2000[update]) is children and teenagers (0–19 years old) make up 18% of the population, while adults (20–64 years old) make up 62% and seniors (over 64 years old) make up 20%. In Mörigen about 90.5% of the population (between age 25-64) have completed either non-mandatory upper secondary education or additional higher education (either university or a Fachhochschule).
Mörigen has an unemployment rate of 0.93%. As of 2005[update], there were 28 people employed in the primary economic sector and about 9 businesses involved in this sector. 33 people are employed in the secondary sector and there are 9 businesses in this sector. 71 people are employed in the tertiary sector, with 15 businesses in this sector.[4] The historical population is given in the following table:[3]
