Lusiana (Cimbrian / German: Lusaan) is a small town in the province of Vicenza, Veneto, Italy. It is west of SP72. Lusiana had an estimated population of 2,926.[2]

The small town is the birthplace of Italian-born, Indian politician Sonia Gandhi, widow of Rajiv Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India. As of 2007, she was named the third most powerful woman in the world by Forbes magazine in the year 2004 and currently ranks 6th.. Sonia Gandhi was born in a small quarter ("contràda" in Italian) called “Màini” where families with the family name “Màino” have been living for many generations. [3] [4] [5]
