Luís Manuel Rodrigues Alves (born September 28, 1971), best known as Luís Alves, is a retired Portuguese football forward.
Luís Alves spent the majority of his career playing for Portuguese third level clubs.
He first came to prominence in the 1999–2000 season, scoring 9 goals for Second Division B South's Câmara de Lobos[1] and earning a contract with Nacional of Liga de Honra. In the 2001–2002 season he moved to Camacha and netted 16 times for them, becoming fourth best goalscorer of Second Division B South behind Marcão, Tequilha and Sandro.[2]
After signing for another Second Division B South team Pontassolense, Luís Alves kept his impressive form, repeating his 16 goals tally and once again occupying fourth place in the top goalscorers' ranking, with Marcão, Gabriel and Marco Paulo above him.[3] The next season for Pontassolense saw him founding the net on 15 occasions and thus becoming Second Division B South topscorer runner-up behind Edinho.[4]
He scored five times in his last season with Madeira-based club.[5]
